The Tebow Phenomenon

December 11, 2011

Another week, another miraculous fourth quarter or overtime win for Tim Tebow and the Broncos.  This time the Bears were the victims of Tebow and the Denver late game machine.  Tebow will never be mistaken for a great passer or even a great reader of defenses.  His statistics before the 4th quarter of games are frankly, terrible.  The defense and special teams have been a large part of the Broncos late game heroics as well.

Having said all that, there is something intriguing about Tebow.  Whether you love his faith or hate it, he has a genuineness that seems to resonate with his teammates.  Tebow preaches a relentless optimism, perseverance, competitiveness and hope.  Tebow has been a winning quarterback from pop warner football through high school state championships, to a college national title and into the NFL.  Like most inspirational leaders, he has a quality that raise the level of expectation for everyone.  It is interesting to note that the Denver defense was terrible before Tebow became the quarterback, now they are one fo the best units in the league.  True leaders, like Tim Tebow, make those around them better.  A heard a commentator say that Tebow is the best he has ever seen at raising the level of play of his teammates.

Dads, are the members of your family, work group and neighborhood better because you are around?  Do you lift the level of play of others?
